PortaOne announced availability of MR58-0, the newest version of PortaSwitch, communication services delivery platform. The most important improvements in the functionality include:
IPv6 network support - As of MR58, PortaSwitch can process calls that originate from IP phones or mobile apps connected to IPv6 networks. PortaSwitch still relies on IPv4 networking internally (since the majority of clients are still going to use IPv4 for the foreseeable future), but it allows telco operators to begin the migration towards IPv6 and successfully pass any IPv6 requirements. For example, Apple does not publish an app in the Apple Store if it does not support the IPv6-only network, so this is an important step in allowing service providers to continue providing service to iPhone subscribers.
- IPv6 network support
- Call Control API
- Payarena Payment Processor
- Waiving subscription fee based on service access
- Unified Tax Management
- Dutch language support
- Updated Spanish web GUI
- A single high-availability IP for Diameter OCS
- Enhanced AudioCodes mobile app provisioning
- MySQL version 5.7
- New version of the Oracle Grid Infrastructure
Call Control API - A new API was introduced to simplify integration with external applications for monitoring call status and call initiation / hold / release (such as CRM). The API uses JSON-RPC over WebSockets, so it is easy to use from within web-based applications. This offers the potential for telecom operators to complement their IP Centrex service with CTI (Computer Telephony Integration).
Payarena Payment Processor - PortaBilling® is now integrated with Payarena, a popular payment system from Nigeria. This is an "external authorization" payment processor (all credit card information is stored and handled by Payarena), so the security certification process is greatly simplified, which reduces the time-to-market for telco operators.
Waiving subscription fee based on service access - Service providers can choose whether or not to apply subscription charges for periods during which a customer did not have access to service (e.g. account was suspended, blocked or expired). This allows for more control of revenue stream (e.g. charging fees for equipment rental, etc.) while reducing the number of helpdesk calls and requests related to subscriptions such as "bundled minutes".
Unified Tax Management - Now all tax configurations are done via their respective taxation plugins, regardless of whether taxes are calculated at the beginning or end of a billing period or included in a rate (this used to be handled via invoicing template configuration).
Dutch language support - The PortaSIP® Media server now includes a full set of voice prompts for IVR applications in the Dutch language.
Updated Spanish web GUI - A Spanish version is available for all components of the administrator web GUI and customer self-care portals.
A single high-availability IP for Diameter OCS - To optimize the PortaBilling® configuration as an OCS for 3G, 4G, LTE and IMS networks, the PortaSwitch® Diameter cluster now offers an entry point for each site via a single public IP address. This simplifies network side configuration; in case of a hardware failure on a single server, the IP address is automatically switched to another server within the cluster.
Enhanced AudioCodes mobile app provisioning - Administrators can now manage assignment of provisioning profile to Audiocodes subscriber on PortaSwitch side; the profile will define features and services available for end-users in the app.
MySQL version 5.7 - Starting with this release, the MySQL database has been upgraded to the Percona Server for MySQL 5.7. This version provides more stability, a better online DDL (Data Definition Language) and an enhanced MySQL Optimizer, which altogether provide better query performance.
New version of the Oracle Grid Infrastructure - Beginning with this release, Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) servers are deployed using Oracle Grid Infrastructure version 12c.
