PortaSwitch Procinctus Architecture


Procinctus

PortaSwitch Procinctus architectural design includes 2 main clustered components that are tuned up to provide the highest level of performance and reliability:

  1. PortaBilling in a special clustered configuration (with 6 servers instead of 4), optimized for the distributed simultaneous multiprocessing:
    • 2 servers to form a Billing Cluster (similar to the high end architecture of PortaBilling Oracularius): no service outage in case one of the servers fails
    • 2 MySQL database servers:
      • Main DB
      • Replica DB for data redundancy
    • 2 web servers in a cluster to provide the service provisioning interface for administration as well as customer self-care pages
  2. The switching and media clusters consist of 2 switching and 2 media servers for IVR (voice prompts), voicemail, auto-attendant, teleconferencing, and fax-to-email services. Each server in this cluster can be operated simultaneously; and the clients' IP phones may automatically switch to another available server in case of a service outage on one of the nodes.

The configuration server is a single point for efficient management and seamless update process of the whole PortaSwitch Procinctus set up. It is also used as a logging storage to remove the analytical task loads from the servers directly involved in the operational processes.

To overcome catastrophic events such as natural disasters, power outages at the collocation provider, network routing errors, etc., and provide uninterrupted service PortaSwitch can be complimented with a site redundancy.

PortaSwitch Procinctus comes with unlimited license and since there are no artificial limitations on the software side the only thing that limits its performance is the calculating power of the servers it is installed on. Of course, the actual performance will depend on the system’s configuration, traffic patterns, and the types of services provided.
