What are the hardware requirements and server hardware specifications?

With the following configuration you can process over 30 session initiations per second, or between 5,000-6,000 simultaneous calls (given ASR=50%, ACD=5 minutes), or mediate traffic of up to 10 million minutes every month (for more information on this topic please refer to the PortaBilling100 Performance Section in the most recent PortaBilling100 Administrator Guide available on the Documentation Page).

FreeBSDChoose an advanced configuration for higher traffic in high-peak load installations (monthly traffic is around or greater than 10 million minutes). When choosing HW please make sure that all server components (especially the disk/RAID controller) and the network interface are supported by FreeBSD 6.3. (FreeBSD 6.3 Hardware notes).

HW CDIf you wish to perform the actual testing whether PortaSwitch can be installed on the specific server, you can use the “Hardware compatibility CD”, provided by PortaOne. Download the CD image and burn it on the CD using any of the CD-recording programs. Boot up from this CD, and PortaSwitch test utility will detect if all of the required components (e.g. network interface) are available and supported by FreeBSD.

The USB Port is required for the HW Key (Dongle) supplied with the installation CD.
