Global communications software company PortaOne, today announced that Cordia Corporation, an international provider of traditional CLEC and VoIP technologies, has deployed PortaOne’s PortaSwitch platform in Brazil and the United States, with future plans for deployment in India. Through its two regional installations of PortaSwitch Procinctus, PortaOne’s ultimate, high-capacity telecom services and subscriber management product, Cordia is able to support an exhaustive menu of IP telephony services, lowering costs and ensuring reliable Class 5 operation for its business customers in multiple markets.
Through its subsidiaries, Cordia provides traditional wireline and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calling services to business and residential customers in Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, the Philippines, and the United States. The Winter Garden, Florida-based global communications company also offers shared and dedicated DSL, international phone numbers, and wholesale telephony services. Cordia’s VoIP and international phone number services are some of the most extensive in the market today, with customers in over 45 countries around the world.
Cordia originally selected PortaOne nearly three years ago when it was seeking to upgrade its hosted IP services.
Our experience with PortaSwitch Procinctus has been very positive. The platform has the capacity, redundancy and complete feature set Cordia needed to aggressively expand its hosted VoIP business offerings. We have used PortaSwitch Procinctus to help build our IP business on a global scale, and plan on future deployment as we continue expanding our global footprint.
Kevin Griffo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cordia Corporation
PortaSwitch Procinctus is comprised of three main components:
- PortaBilling100 Advanced, enabling high-volume carriers to price, launch and provision their VoIP services;
- PortaSIP cluster, a highly scalable SIP softswitch; and
- PortaUM cluster, a unified messaging platform and a media server application that handles voice mail, fax, and regular e-mail messages.
Designed with a distributed architecture for high performance, Procinctus offers simultaneous multiprocessing (SMP) technology to increase billing engine capacity, as well as built-in redundancy and load balancing to ensure reliable operation even under periods of peak demand.
With PortaSwitch Procinctus, Cordia was able to achieve a total PBX feature set including:
- Call Forwarding (Busy/No-Answer/Unconditional);
- Call Hunting;
- Call Forking (ringing multiple devices simultaneously);
- Pre-Paid Service;
- Voicemail (Dial-In/Email Notification);
- Selective Call Blocking;
- Selective Call Dialing;
- Caller ID;
- Call Waiting;
- Group Calling (dialing extension numbers masked in groups);
- Call Detail Record Output; and
- UA/ATA/IAD/Soft Phone compatibility.
Cordia’s initial purchase was for PortaOne’s primary PortaSwitch platform. Soon after, Cordia added several secondary PortaSIP servers to enhance redundancy and increase capacity, and a staging system for internal development and testing. Its adoption of PortaSwitch Procinctus involved two installs in the past year. Today, the provider operates a total of four PortaSwitch systems:
- PortaSwitch with servers in the U.S.;
- a U.S.-based staging PortaSwitch install; and
- two separate PortaSwitch Procinctus systems in Brazil and India.
The source code which comes as a part of all PortaSwitch licenses makes it easy for Cordia to create and verify its own products in-house, shortening time-to-market for new services and saving the cost of outside development. By deploying PortaSwitch Procinctus—the ultimate combination of PortaSwitch products and technologies—Cordia is able to stay ahead of its competition and give its customers a world-class quality of service.
