Datora Telecom Group (Datora), a Brazil-based telecom firm, provides VoIP services throughout Latin America and other parts of the globe. Engaged in telecom services for the past 18 years, Datora is a VoIP pioneer in Latin America, and boasts the first full MVNO license from Anatel, the national telecommunications agency of Brazil. Datora also recently founded Datora Mobile in order to meet the massively growing M2M market in Brazil.
The company first partnered with PortaOne in 2007 when it selected an early version of PortaSwitch, a flagship VoIP infrastructure system. Datora experienced considerable growth in the ensuing years, and over time they expanded the PortaSwitch platform to manage their increased capacity needs and provide more redundancies. Datora’s mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and mobile-to-mobile (M2M) services allow its customers to provide a more customized experience to end users, with product and mobility convergence and deeper brand loyalty.
The company’s technical support engineers possess deep knowledge of the system and are able to provide us with very fast issue resolution, even for the most complex development issues. The PortaOne systems are vital to our continued growth as they allow our customers to manage their own accounts and it significantly improves the reliability and quality of our services.
Wilson Otero, CEO of Datora Telecom
Datora recently implemented an upgrade to PortaOne’s PortaBilling, a carrier grade converged VoIP billing and customer management platform that provides Datora with a reliable system within an Oracle Real Application Cluster environment. The system provides multiple billing capabilities including the usage event, usage, or periodic-based billing, and multiple services functionality. Additional features include custom charging formulas and pre- and post-paid business models. It’s a real-time billing engine that works in tandem with Datora’s other telecommunication network equipment to enable action such as flexible call routing, profit-guarantee routing, and other plans designed to ensure efficiency and maximum return-on-investment.
PortaBilling allows our firm to handle multiple business needs on just one platform,” continued Mr. Otero. “We upgraded to this system in order to manage our considerable growth without any interruption to our services. It provides instant scalability, and allows us to add capacity as needed to our Oracle RAC cluster or other components.
