This page contains the general hardware requirements for PortaBilling and PortaSwitch components. Please note these requirements may vary to serve particular purposes in specific networks.

Reliable and well-serviced equipment is a guarantee for the stable and trouble-free operation of your system. We’re always happy to provide information about the basic and recommended hardware requirements to ensure this.
Minimum & recommended components
Please avoid any entry-level or desktop-oriented components
Use high-performance with server type CPUs – Xeon or Opteron/Epyc, released in 2016 or later. Baseline CPU model is Xeon E5-2620 V4.
PortaBilling and PortaSwitch can be installed from optical discs (an IDE or a USB DVD-ROM) or from USB flash drives.
All servers must have
- CPU: 2x Octa-Core (Min. 2x Quad-Core)
- RAM: 32GB (Min. 16GB)
- a DVD-ROM drive or USB slot
- two network ports (Gigabit Ethernet)
- a remote access card such as Dell iDRAC Enterprise or HP iLO Advanced (or be connected to IP KVM and a remote power switch)

Hardware compatibility test
To identify whether PortaSwitch can be installed on the specific server you plan to purchase, please download our hardware compatibility CD.
Download the package using the link below and burn the CD. Boot up from the CD and the PortaSwitch test utility will detect if all of the required components (e.g. network interface) are available and supported by RedHat Linux.
