MR-PortaOne-PortaSwitch Maintenance Release

PortaSwitch Maintenance Release 106 now available

A new self-care portal designed for mobile subscribers, call control from external apps in site-redundant PortaSwitch, offering customers the ability to add phone lines in bulk, and more – PortaSwitch MR106

Self-care portal for mobile subscribers

If you are a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), you can now offer your subscribers the ability to manage their accounts themselves – from the new PortaOne mobile self-care portal. Your subscribers can easily access the portal from a web browser on their device and check their balance, see how much data or minutes are left in their bundle, upgrade their bundle, activate a new service, and more, all without the need for help from your support staff.

The portal is not yet available as a standard Add-on Mart module. But if your company would benefit from this portal, which can be branded with your logo, contact our sales team to become an early adopter.

Call control from external apps in site-redundant PortaSwitch

The call control API that enables users to manage and monitor calls from external applications is now available in site-redundant PortaSwitch

This means that external applications that communicate with PortaSwitch via the call control API (for example, a web dialer developed in-house or a CRM system where you add the click-to-dial feature) will continue to function the same way even if the main site becomes unavailable.

Let’s say your PortaSwitch includes main and secondary sites. You have your own web application that allows PBX users to manage calls and monitor their status – for example, a receptionist can see that a sales manager’s phone line is not busy, and so transfers a call to them. The application communicates with PortaSwitch via the call control API and is designed to switch between the API servers on the main and the secondary site.

If a power outage or some other factor causes the main site to go down, the application will automatically re-log in to the secondary site. The users will be able to continue managing and monitoring their calls just as they had before.

Adding new extensions in bulk

With MR106, you can enable your PBX customers to add multiple extensions (phone lines) at a time through a self-care portal using the PortaBilling API. This feature can be added to your third-party or in-house developed self-care portal; it is on the roadmap for our cloud PBX self-care portal.

When a PBX customer wants to add several new phone lines for new employees, they can upload the corresponding extensions in bulk from a .csv file. The customer needs to specify the name of the product that should be activated for each extension. Upon upload, the corresponding accounts will be automatically generated in PortaBilling with active status.

Simplified way to add PortaSwitch servers using auto-detection

When you need new servers with freshly installed PortaSwitch to become a part of your system, those servers have to be added to the PortaSwitch servers list on the Configuration server web interface. Before MR106, it was necessary to add them individually by manually specifying each server’s IP address. Now, it’s possible to scan the network for available servers directly from the Configuration server web UI. Your engineer can select all the automatically detected new servers in bulk and add them to the PortaSwitch server list with a single click.
